Valentines Day

Valentine Celebration Ideas for Long Distance Boyfriend

valentine celebration ideas for long distance boyfriend

Distance from the one you love is really hard, and as the distance increases, visits decrease. But as you say it, distance makes the heart grow fonder. Even though not many people agree that long-distance relationships can be a good idea, people in a long-distance relationship know how magical it is!

Every day, it gets easier. Even if you can’t meet your better half every day, you know you have a timetable of visiting each other. And of course, you have video calls and text messages to stay connected. But on holidays like Valentine’s Day, it gets really hard. When everyone around you is celebrating with their better half, and you are just sitting their missing your partner.

I can definitely relate to it, as I live in San Francisco, USA and 1 Year back my boyfriend moved to England, the UK for work. We have been together for 5 years and last year was our first Valentine’s Day apart. We knew it would be really difficult to be without each other. We thought of visiting each other but neither of us could get out of work. We had no option but to stay home and miss each other.

That is when I thought, why can’t I make it special. I mean even if we aren’t together, we can still celebrate valentine’s because it is about celebrating love.

Here is what I did:

Video Called Him at 12 at Night:

We had already kept down the phone, but I decided to wish him Valentine’s when it was 12 am in England. It was a total surprise for him, as I hardly call him twice while I am at work (it was 4 pm in San Francisco).

Care Package of Love in the Morning:

I wanted to send Valentine’s gifts for him in the UK. I did not want to wait for him to meet him to give the gift, so I decided to send him a care package. It had a single red rose, some delicious gourmet snack, and a beard care hamper. It had everything he loved.

Something Sweet For My Sweetheart:

I know how stressed he gets while he is at work. Moreover, he had an important presentation on 14th February, so I decided to send him something sweet at work. I decided to deliver it right after the meeting, and believe me, he was more than happy.

More Gifts:

There is nothing like gifts. So, I went online and researched for more Valentine’s Day Gifts in the UK. I decided to send him some memories with personalised cushion & personalised couple wine glasses, and he received it as soon he reached home from work. I also mailed a handwritten letter, which he received in his mail along with my gifts.

Modern Playlist

We share a Spotify account, and he listens to songs every day when he comes back from work. I created a playlist of all our favourite songs, the songs we listened to together, every song which reminded me of him. When he opened his Spotify, he found that playlist.

Dinner Surprise

I ordered his favourite dinner. When he was receiving the dinner, he called me to thank me, and asked why had I ordered it for 2, and that’s when I said: “Because I knew, you won’t you share yours with me, open the door.”

There I was, and he had tears in his eyes.

I made the entire day special for him and surprised him by visiting him at night. He was happy and told me “ Sending all these gifts to the UK from the USA was enough, you didn’t have to come all the way. But, I am glad you did.”

It was indeed the best Valentine’s Day ever.
