When is Chhat Puja?
Surya Devta is thanked to promote well-being, prosperity, and progress. Every year, it is celebrated on Kartik Shukla Shashthi – the 6th day of the month of Kartika in Vikram Samvat Calendar. For 4 days, people follow various rituals and traditions and gather in merry-making.
Normally, this Kartika and Shukla Paksha falls in October or November as per the Gregorian English Calendar but it is also celebrated on Chaitra month that falls in the summertime between March – April which is known as Chaiti Chhath. It is a tough festival that demands stay without a drop of water for 36 hours continuously.
